Description:  Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad 4-6-0 Class K-10 966 at Sterling, Colorado on August 26, 1939, photographer unknown, print by Don Gruber, Chuck Zeiler collection. Number 966 was built by Baldwin in 1899 as a 2-6-0 for the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad as number 345. It was renumbered in 1904 to CB&Q 1231, rebuilt in October 1914 at CB&Q's Havelock, Nebraska Shops to a 4-6-0, class K-10 966. It was sold for scrap in December 1951.

The chosen date and location based on the CB&Q Locomotive Assignment Sheet dated February 1, 1952. Number 2005 was built as class R-4 by Baldwin in 1906 (c/n 27249) rebuilt to class R-4-A in October 1925, and retired in July 1952.
